DMU at COP28

30 November - 12 December

COP28_BrandMark_VerticalCOP28 will be the most important climate change talks in a generation – and 鶹Ƶ Leicester will be right at the heart of the conference.

Academics and researchers will showcase their work to world leaders, government ministers and policy makers in the university’s pavilion , which is where all the negotiations take part, in Dubai.

These talks from 30 November to 12 December will be the first-ever ‘Global Stock Take’, a measure of how countries are doing against the target set in Paris eight years ago to limit global temperate rises to 1.5C.

The university will also stage a series of events at its campuses in both Leicester and Dubai so that students and staff are empowered to make their voice heard in the debate and to demand action.

Work will take place to remove plastic waste from the city’s River Soar; workshops will give students practical advice on achieving a sustainable world; events will be held to showcase projects already under way and how students can get involved; and an awards ceremony will recognise the best of that work at DMU.
